An online meeting was held to exchange professional experience between libraries in Perm and the Chinese city of Hohhot
The event was initiated by the Perm administration and the Hohhot Department of Culture, Tourism, Radio and Television. The meeting took place in the A.S. Pushkin Library.
The Department of Culture and Youth Policy of the Perm Administration reported that in order to strengthen cultural ties between Russia and China, the first joint online meeting to exchange professional experience of libraries in Perm and Hohhot was held at the A.S. Pushkin Central City Library. The main objectives of the professional dialogue were to get acquainted with the features of organizing library services, events to promote reading, local literature and the use of modern information technologies in the work of libraries in Perm and Hohhot.
The greatest interest among Perm colleagues was aroused by the project "Pleasant Reading Hongyan", which evolved from a municipal initiative of the Hohhot library into a project to promote reading in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region of China. Its main idea is broad cooperation of libraries with local communities, bookstores, schools, banks, hospitals, enterprises and government agencies to create book houses and integrate them into the library service system.
In addition to learning about the innovative experience of public libraries, the parties to the dialogue prepared a cultural program for each other. Chinese craftsmen showed Perm residents master classes in traditional artistic paper cutting, leather painting, and sugar painting. Perm librarians held a presentation of amulet dolls for their colleagues from China based on the traditions and customs of the indigenous peoples inhabiting the Perm Territory.
